IGTC introduces college to these students in many different ways such as workshops and college access classes. IGTC targets students who attend elementary schools that are low-income and/or under served areas.

The San Francisco College Access Center in collaboration with UCSF Center for Educational Partnerships hosted a field trip to UCSF Parnassus campus on March 15th. A group of 80 4th & 5th grade students from Junipero Serra Elementary arrived at UCSF eager and excited to partake in various workshops throughout the day. The students attended college classes taught by UCSF doctors, nurses, and pharmacists. They received mock financial aid checks and cashed the check in for t-shirts & backpacks. The students received hands on experience from professionals and left UCSF thinking about college and their future!

The AACE-TS/AACE-UB/SFCAC Scholarship Fund is a grant provided by the College Access Foundation of California to provide financial assistance to low-income and first-generation college students, regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, and sexual orientation.

Awards will range from $1,000 – $5,000.

NEW STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
• High School Senior enrolled in AACE UB or a High School Senior served by the AACE TS or SFCAC program: Balboa, Burton, Galileo, Marshall, Mission, Washington or Jefferson (Daly City)
• Minimum GPA of 2.0 (9-12th grades NOT including PE/ROTC, Health Ed, or Drivers Ed)
• Will Be Enrolled Full-Time at a 2-year or 4-year College or University for the Academic Year 2012-2013
• Must Demonstrate Financial Need and/or Be a First-Generation College Student
• Students will be considered for the AACE TS/AACE UB/SFCAC scholarship regardless of citizenship status

RENEWAL STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
• Must have received a scholarship for the 2007-08 or 2008-09 or 2009-10 or 2010-11 or 2011-12
school year
• Currently Meets Minimum College GPA of 2.0
• Must Demonstrate Financial Need
• Will Be Enrolled Full-Time at a 2-year or 4-year College or University for the Academic Year 2012-2013


The scholarship application deadline is Monday, March 5th, 2012.

This year, the San Francisco College Access Center will be hosting 8 workshops throughout high schools in San Francisco & Daly City.

High school seniors— attend a Cash for College workshop, complete an exit survey, apply for a Cal Grant by the March 2 deadline, and you could qualify for an extra $1,000 incentive scholarship! Students eligible for instate tuition assistance (AB 540) may also qualify for the incentive scholarship.

On November 16, 2011, students received a tour of the campus and ate at the dining commons with current CSUEB students! Recently, the Princeton Review selected Cal State East Bay as a “Best in the West” college for 2012. The report is based on surveys of current students, who noted the following highlights: affordable tuition, small class sizes, strong business, nursing, and teaching programs, career-minded students, and a diverse multicultural community.
