SFCAC Adviser Spotlight: Burton HS

My name is Jobelle Romulo and I am a current senior at UC Berkeley majoring in Asian American Studies. I have an immense passion for health and education hence why I plan to bridge my two passions with a Masters in Public Health. In the future, I hope to become a health promoter within a college setting helping students retain themselves in higher education. At UC Berkeley, I was a part of the Pilipino Academic Student Services (PASS), the Pilipino recruitment and retention center which aims to bring students into institutions of higher learning. The direct connection I had with students ranging from elementary to community college students motivated me to work with the San Francisco College Access Center.  Now at Phillip and Sala Burton High School, my vision and goals for the future have become clearer and tangible. I’d like to say that I learn so much more from the students I work with than the students learn from me.

My name is Elmaneca Cabrera and I am currently a senior at San Francisco State University where I am studying Child and Adolescent Development. My ultimate goal is to attain a Master’s degree in either Education or School Counseling. At Burton High School, I tell my students that it is always important to know your options regardless of what your future decisions may be. Though this is only my first year, I am proud of my students for what they have done and feel hopeful for what they will become.
